Why is there an extra 5% charge on credit card payments?

This is an on-line payment service. The money will only be effectively transferred one month later. There are other opportunity costs such as credit fraud, surcharge, annual subscription of payment gateway etc. We strongly encourage the customer to make payment by cheque, cash or TT (telegraphic transfer). If that is not possible, then on-line payment with 5% charge may be the only option.
